Continuing the in-depth documentation of one of fashion’s most elusive houses, this is the second special issue of Japanese fashion magazine, STREET, dedicated to and guest-edited by Maison Martin Margiela. Chronicling all women’s collections up to Spring/Summer 1999 through previously unpublished imagery, this issue illuminates the process, presentation, and the evolving language of deconstruction that defined the label through the 1990s and early 2000s. The volume also includes materials from several of the Belgian house’s landmark exhibitions including the 1999 MODE et ART at Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, and their ‘museum within a museum’ at the Art and Fashion Biennale in Florence in 1996.
