First published in 1996, Living Room Tokyo is one of Thai-born Japanese photographer Masato Seto’s most quietly radical works, and is an intimate survey of private space that subtly reshaped the language of Japanese photography in the 1990s. Shot inside the living rooms of ordinary Tokyo residents, the series strips away spectacle and turns its attention to the understated theatre of domestic interiors, particularly those belonging to the city’s international tenants. Televisions, low tables, stacked magazines, family portraits, houseplants, each room becomes a psychological portrait revealing traces of habits and aspirations belonging to subjects from Iran, Uganda, Bangladesh and Thailand. The book is specially bound with 8 metres of accordion style pages, with full-bleed images printed in black and white.

Condition: Very good 23 fold-out pages, 19 × 26.5cm
